Clarion Hotel Casino:
In 1972, the property located at 3800 Virginia Street opened as a 142 room motel called the Golden Road Motor Inn.  From 1979-1986 it was known at the Travelodge, then it was renamed Quality Inn from 1986-1991 as a franchise agreement was struck, with Choice Hotels. From 1991-1996,  the property was rebranded as the Clarion and a new 12 story tower was constructed. The overall theme was tropical. In 1996, as a publicly traded company under Monarch Casino & Resort, the property was renamed and rebranded the Atlantis. They expanded and added another tower. Today, the Atlantis has over 800 hotel rooms, many restaurants and over 64,000 q. ft. of gaming space.  They added the Sky Terrace in 1999 over Virginia Street.  The overall theme has remained tropical.
