About the Golden Nugget:
The Golden Nugget is located in Downtown Las Vegas at 129 Fremont Street. It opened on August 30, 1946 and is one of the oldest casinos in the city. Steve Wynn bought a stake in the Golden Nugget and by 1973, he became the majority shareholder and the youngest casino owner in Las Vegas. He opened the first hotel tower in 1977, the second in 1984, and the third tower was opened in 1989. Today, the Golden Nugget has 2,419 rooms. In 2000, the Golden Nugget was sold to MGM Grand Inc (MGM Mirage). In 2003, the resort was sold to Poster Financial Group (Timothy Poster and Thomas Breitling). In 2005, the resort was sold again and is currently owned by Landry's Inc. One of the most famous attractions at the Golden Nugget is the "Hand of Faith" the world's largest gold nugget - found near Kingower, Victoria, Australia. It was put on display in 1981 along with a number of other gold nuggets. The other attraction at the resort is the large aquarium featuring sharks. The Golden Nugget pool has an enclosed slide that goes through the shark tank.
