About Harrah's Las Vegas:
Harrah's Las Vegas is located center Strip at 3475 South Las Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1973, Shelby and Claudine Williams opened the Holiday Casino, a small riverboat themed casino in front of the the Holiday Inn, after selling their Silver Slipper casino to Howard Hughes. In 1979, Holiday Inn bought a 40% share of the casino's company. The remaining 60% was purchased by Holiday Inn by 1982.
The property was renamed Harrah's Las Vegas in 1992. The riverboat theme was replaced in 1997 with a Mardi Gras and Carnival theme. Today, the property has 2,540 rooms and is owned by Vici Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment.

About William Harrah:
William F. Harrah (1911-1978) was a businessman and founder of Harrah's Hotel and Casinos. He worked at various family businesses in Southern California. One of the businesses included gambling called the Reno Game. In 1937, Harrah opened Harrah's Club Bingo in Reno, Nevada. It closed within a month. He later opened another business in the downtown area, with the help of some influential friends, which was more successful. In the 1950's, he expanded to the Lake Tahoe Area. In 1973, he purchased the Holiday Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He died in 1978 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 66 during a cardiac surgery operation to repair an aortic aneurysm. He was known for his influence to create the Nevada Gaming Control Board along with the Gaming Commission. He was also praised for his positive relations with both his customers and employees.
