Las Vegas Club History:
The Las Vegas Club was at 18 East Fremont Street, corner of Main and Fremont in the Downtown Las Vegas area. The Overland Hotel was originally built at the site of the Las Vegas Club in the early 1900's. In 1930, the Las Vegas Club opened but was originally at the south side of Fremont Street (21-23 Fremont). The owner J. Kell Houssels Sr. eventually moved the Las Vegas Club to the site of the Overland Hotel (1949) and expanded the property.
Jackie Gaughan purchased the Las Vegas Club with two others in 1961. In 2002, Jackie sold the Las Vegas Club, Plaza and Gold Spike casino to Barrick Gaming (partners with Tamares Group).
In 2015, the Las Vegas Club was sold to Derek and Greg Stevens, owners of the nearby D and Golden Gate casinos. In August 2015, the Las Vegas Club closed and was demolished in 2017 along with the former Mermaids Casino and Glitter Gulch strip club to make way for a new resort called Circa Las Vegas. Circa opened in December 2020.
